 May 1, 2008:  IMPORTANT NOTICE

Rae Fire Service Area ISO Public Fire Protection Rating Improves, Reduces Insurance Costs, Saves Money for Community

Fire Chief Brian Crandell has been informed that residents of the Rae Fire Service Area will enjoy a significantly better fire insurance (ISO) rating.

ISO authorities have awarded Rae Fire Service Area a new rating of 4 which places Rae in the top 8% of the 417 fire departments in Montana.  The new rating was based on a number of factors including training hours, equipment and firefighter response to emergencies.

ISO evaluates municipal fire-protection efforts in communities throughout the United States. Many insurance companies use ISO information to help establish fair premiums for fire insurance — generally offering lower premiums in communities with better protection.

RAE Fire Service Area residents are encouraged to contact their insurance company for possible reductions in fire insurance rates effective April 1, 2008.

Insurance Savings

Home fire insurance rating are based on an assessment by the Insurance Service Organization (ISO). ISO rate the fire service available on a scale of 1-10. 10 is the lowest (worst) rating, reflecting a residence in a rural area, 8 miles from a fire station. 1 is best rating, reflecting a residence down the block from a fire station in Los Angeles.  Prior to April 2008 the ISO rating for RAE Fire Service Area was 8. Today it is a 4.

Having a highly functional team of dedicated members, the right equipment and the support of the Rae community provides residents significant insurance saving.
